Wedding Chic

When we were first engaged I scoured magazines and books to get ideas for wedding decor, planning, flowers and what not, being that this was new and all. While in a bookstore, I came across Colin Cowie's book Wedding Chic. I remember seeing him for the first time on Oprah and was stunned, jaw-on-the-floor impressed by the beautifully gorgeous weddings he created. Well then reality set in, and I realized there was no way (not only on earth but the universe), that we were ever ever ever going to afford one of his creations.

So I figured the only way I was going to get remotely close to having even a suggestion from the famous Colin Cowie regarding my wedding, was to buy his book. So I did. And I thought I would share some of my favorite images with you

And these are just the ones I could find on his website! The book is full of beautiful photographs of decor, cakes, centerpieces, paper goods, food and much more. I haven't bought another book since purchasing this one, and I feel like between it and the internet, I have enough to get me going.

What kind of resources have you been using for inspiration/ideas?

These are the weddings that every girl dreams of and few girls get!

While mine wasn't nearly as decorated as these, I wouldn't change a thing...execpt maybe my photographer, who referred to himself as "Wild Willie." If your photographer calls himself "Wild" anything...run!

Beautiful!

I got married in a big Cathedral Church.

My brides maids wore black dresses that they "really" could use again.

We had a photographer and a video person.

I love Weddings! My husband and I did all the planning ourselves.

Sigh... I loved planning my wedding, but that was three years ago! I wish my sister would hurry up and get engaged! I'm dying to help her plan hers... and I am totally picing up that book!

BTW, let me know if you are ever going to do any blog voting on minor wedding decisions... I love that!

well, I use the cost of everything as inspiration...to NOT do a big wedding :) I know I've mentioned that before to you. I can relate on the ring thing but I have never wanted a big wedding. We're talking 10 people at the ceremony. I found a place that does that for $2500. Includes everything. It's called Homestead and it's in Traverse City :) I think that's what it's called...

IF I were having a big wedding I would want LOTS of green and blue :)

Great photos. When I got married forever ago, I wanted my bridesmaids to carry white flowers and the florist refused! I'm glad times have changed.

Gorgeous photos. Makes me want to do a wedding and I don't even have a daughter. My 40th anniversary was yesterday. My tomorrow's post is all about it. Thanks for the visit and enjoy your planning. We will vote if you want us to! heehee

WOW! I wish wish wish. Sometimes I think it would be nice if the big wedding were the one that happened later, after kids, when we have money. Maybe for one of our anniversaries. These are beautiful.

Hello fellow SITs blogger! :-)

When did you get married or are you still engaged? I absolutely LOVE some of those blue-colored and beach wedding photos you posted! I am to be married in April 2010 with an ocean/beach theme and I'm always searching for something jaw-dropping that I can manage to do as a DIY project to save money.
I might just have to take a look at his book!
